Global Assessments of Birdwing Butterflies

It was three years ago when I was selected to participate in the ‘IUCN Red List Assessor Training Workshop’. The workshop was organized by IUCN and participants included freshly graduated ecologists and conservationists from three Asian countries. It was a turning moment in my life as I got a chance to meet Monika Böhm, who later helped me a lot reshaping my understanding of scientific writing. At the same time, whenever I faced any problem, just sent her an email and she replied instantaneously which ultimately fortified my interest towards higher study.

Last year, when I was in Dhaka, received an email from Monika mentioning whether I was interested to work on the global assessment of two birdwing butterflies which is available in Bangladesh. I was quite excited to become a part of this work and without hesitation, accepted at once. Finally, the work is now online; here it goes the global assessments of Troides helena and Troides aeacus.

Although while attending the workshop, I excelled during the assessment exam, becoming a part of this assessment eventually triggered me to acquire a solid conception of the assessment procedures.
